Welcome to my Aprilia RSV Mille-R page.
The News link contains information and news from Aprilia. Twins Comparo is a comparison done my Motorcycle.com. It compares the Ducati 996 vs. the Honda RC51 vs. the Mille (not the "R"). Of course the Mille takes the blue ribbon, wonder what the "R" would have done! The Specs page contains all the specs on the 2001 Mille-R, including details on the exclusive Aprilia wheels and the difference between the Mille and the "R" Why choose an Aprilia Mille? Needless to say, that 15 minute ride had me hooked. The only problem was at that time the "R" was like the original Model "T", you could get it in any color, as long as you liked black with red trim. Well that would not have been a bad choice, except 3 months earlier I spent a significant amount of money on a set of Z-Custom leathers, in yellow, black and white. Keeping away from the local police is difficult. Keeping the local police and the fashion police away was more than I wanted to take on. So I said to myself if the "R" ever came out in yellow, I would buy it. Well the fine design group at Aprilia accommodated my wish and in 2001 they produced a yellow bike. Bastards. Now I am a bit poorer, and have a perma-grin on my face. Why the Aprilia over a Ducati or RC51? Well I did not want the Honda. It's a great bike, but it's a Honda. I wanted something a little more exotic and a little less common. The Duc is a beautiful bike, I could look at it for hours. But, it's like an asshole, everyone seems to have one. I chose the Aprilia because the bike is relatively new, there are not many "R"s and the number of yellow "R"s is even less. The bike also comes with just about every top quality component you could want, Ohlins suspension front and rear (the Duc only has a rear Ohlins), incredibly light and strong wheels developed by OZ (the manufacturer of wheels for Indy car, CART, F1 and more), steel braided break lines, carbon goodies all over, Pirelli Super Corsa tires and the list goes on. Well enough babbling about the bike. Hope you enjoy the site, and if you have any suggestions please email me. Thanks
